A Nice Break...

... that's what I had for most of December! With the exception of a few upsets, I had much to be thankful for this holiday season. We (my BF, and two dogs) traveled to the East Coast to be with family at the end of November.  Our first stop was upstate NY, where we stayed with my brother and his most awesome family. It's safe to say we partied the whole week, big dinners, drinks, going out dancing with Heather-twice-, the usual jam at my uncle Matt's, lots of Baby love, and a successful 80th surprise Birthday party for my Grandfather. Whew. WHAT a whirlwind. After NY we went on to Michigan expecting to stay for three weeks, as we have a house there and TONS of amazing people to spend time with. On our third day there we received some bad news, that one of our other dogs who stayed in CA was sick, really sick. Three weeks turned into three days, and it was back to CA. Thankfully on our last night in MI, the WHOLe family made it over to our house for an impromptu party. Thanks Bob and Sara for making it happen... The rest of our holiday and was a quiet one, lots of time spent with our animals and holed up in our house. We missed being with family, but Mr. Kobie, our Rhodesian Ridgeback was very happy to have his parents home. So here we are in a New Year and back to work. I have many new projects and happenings in my studio, some I will let you in on very soon! Thanks for your support! Happy New Year, and may this year be a creative one!!!!!

After seven Christmases... our first Christmas Tree!! I am in love with it, and am considering leaving it up for another few weeks...

This is Joe, he's 80 and spent at least a few hours out on the dance floor during his party, are you kidding me?! I want to still be dancing when I'm 80...

My little niece on her second birthday, now THIS is how you eat a cupcake!!!

Today I thought I would share some other creative things from my studio.  It's been crazy around here lately- in a good way!  We've had guests, been planning parties, getting ready for holiday travel and making art!!  If you click on the paintings below you will be able to see the texture much better!

" Is it Gone Yet?"  16" x 20" Acrylic on Canvas

" There They Stood" 8" x 16" Acrylic on Wood

For the past few months I have been taking a jewelry fabrication class. It ended yesterday, and here are a few of the results that I'm really excited about! A Drusy Chalcedony Ring, which I am wearing right now!!! A Drusy Chalcedony Cuff Bracelet, and a Polar Bear Pendant Necklace. The Polar Bear Necklace will initially be available by pre- order only, orders will be shipped out in January.  The necklace is hand cut out of Sterling Silver, finished with a lovely matte texture and strung on a adjustable silver chain. $ 170.00 Pre- order yours here. I have also been a bit obsessed with pearls lately, I think it might be Sex and the City inspired, at any rate, I've been stringing them like a mad woman. The ones above are hand knotted with purple silk.

We're on our Way...

Where do I begin with this post?! I think shock and awe might best describe how I'm feeling. My morning has gone a bit like this: wake, bathrobe daze for a few minutes, then yoga. Shock and Awe followed by owwww, my middle right hand finger has swollen double it's size, I have no idea why, and Chaturanga Dandasana  was not as fun as it usually is at 6am.  Ok, so 7:30 am, Shock and Awe, and Awwww as I wake our little furry nuggets, get them out of bed and fed. (its one of my favorite times of the day, I love the smell of sleepy puppy!) 8:30 am S & A, and Ahhhh as I pour my first cup of Mate for the day and settle down in front of my Mac to see how my favorite bloggers have reacted to the election. You get the picture?! I am just so excited and happy, I'm feeling almost disbelief.  The first election I could vote in was the 2000 cluster- expletive, I voted, waited and we all know how that turned out. It just so happens I was taking my first politricks and government class in college that year, so the drama gave us lots of fodder to incoherently bicker over, as my ASU class was well over 100 students. It totally turned me off to our system, so 2004 came and went, so did my hope. I got MY way today, (last night) and so did millions of other Americans. Here's for hoping!! I also want to say I was completely impressed by McCain's concession speech, I feel as if I like him better now, it was such a change to hear such calm and peaceful words from his mouth. Alright, I am done with that politricks, on this blog anyway!

A few posts ago I mentioned my sister whom I am continually impressed with. Some people just inspire you to want to be better person, she is one of those people. She looks out for her family, is always there for me when I'm freakin out about one thing or another, and succeeds beyond expectation with everything she puts her mind to.  The past few days were no exception, read about the awesome ambitions of this rad girl here. Heather you know I'm not blowing smoke up your toukas I'm just really proud of you!!!!!!!

This is Art and Heather, and I love them... and what kind of brother is Art you ask?.... well....
He's the kind of brother who helps you blow out your candles when you're two. Enough Said. Xoxo

Ahhh Halloween!!

Ok, so I believe these photos are from the late 80's. That's my little sister on the right and my cousin on the left.  I totally remember that costume, my Mom made it, and I thought I was hot stuff. Can't you tell??!!  Today I purchased candy for the treaters, for the first time in years! I guess I have not supported the whole " passing out chemical laden junk to all the sweet neighborhood children" in the past.  Why did I change my mind? When I was going through these old pictures today I remembered how fun it was to go out and get your candy on Halloween, so I lightened up! It didn't kill me or my teeth  to eat all that candy, I'm 28 and no cavities!!! I hope everyone has fun tonight, I am hanging out with my boy, he will be working on music and I will be stringing hot pink pearls. Seriously, they're hot pink , wonderfully textured, and will be available at the gallery on Monday! Xoxo

Pow Wow

I love this piece so very much! It has some of my favorite characters in it- funnily enough all manufactured by the same plush toy company Manhattan Toy.  Check them out, they make absolutely the most adorable stuffies!!!
Today is one of those days.  One of those Amazing days where I feel excited, happy, and so lucky to be able to spend my time creating. I am also feeling very generous- and this means a few things: I am going to be sending my little sister and sister's in- law- ( I dislike that term "in-law," they are my sisters.) a few goodies this week for being F-ing fabulous and THE BEST. I can't believe how it worked out, I couldn't have asked for a better girl for my older bro to marry, she has become one of my very best friends, and my partner's sister is super fun, and I love to be around her!!!  I also am going to be giving away Three 81/2 x 11" prints of "Pow Wow"- just be one of the first three to comment on this post, it can be anything- even just your name- and it's yours! Unfortunately I am not shipping internationally yet, so this giveaway is limited to domestic readers only. If you are one of the first three to comment, please email your shipping address to nicole@abunnyaday.com Xoxo

I Totally Love You Little Brother

                                                                              My little nugget circa 2000

I have been so self- absorbed lately. Sometimes I have to be that way to get any work done, so yes I'm getting my to do list whittled down, but I have been neglecting the people who make me smile, the people who inspire me. So... I love you Z!!!!!  Thanks for being the best little brother ever.  I know you are not my little nugget anymore, but you are a good sport about my inability to let you grow up.  I must admit though, it's been fun watching you grown into a young man/nugget.  Please don't forget we are here O.K??

Pink Giraffe

10" x 22" Acrylic on Birch Board

It is officially the last day of summer, and I have been feeling it coming for some time now. It is this time of year that I make resolutions and reflect on my life Big Time. For me it feels more authentic to choose when I want to "Start Fresh" - I leave New Years Resolutions to the traditionalists and the party animals. If you have never tried making resolutions at a time other than New Years- I highly recommend it, there's not as much pressure, and if you falter you can choose to begin fresh the very next day, it's OK!!
I have been feeling lately I need a new spark in my painting, I have been feeling stagnant and Blah. When this has happened in the past
